The Black Hole Enduro Tour was a superlative experience --- at least an 11/10. It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to stay at the Koros Eco Hotel and get to know our hosts both on and off the trails. The Black Hole Trail is, of course, an inimitable experience --- particularly riding it with the person who designed it. The natural single track around the Jamnica Bike Park and surrounding area is also truly superb. I cannot recommend this tour enough. Every element of it was incredible and I absolutely would love to do the whole thing again.

A great week in Finale (hills, sun, sea). Brilliant riding on long trails with excellent guides. Faultless organisation (communication, driving, trailer, info, well matched group). Unbelievable food (lunches in small restos in tiny villages every day!). Good hotel, geared up for biking. Can I go again?

Just back from Pyrenees, staying in Bielsa. We had an amazing week of steep, technical riding with some epics and hike-a-bikes mixed in. Very fun, loads of variety and some of the best trails I've experienced anywhere. Atlas made the whole thing super easy and the local guides at Altitude were absolutely spot on - super friendly, nothing was a problem, really flexible to what we wanted to ride. Great hotel, Bielsa is a lovely town, food was really great. Would recommend if you like natural, rocky, technical riding. Great trip cheers everyone!

Atlas put together an amazing custom tour 6 day tour for us in Scotland. Our local guides Mike and Will were fantastic. They took great care of us. The e-bikes were high end Specialized Levo bikes that were well maintained. The hotels and restaurants were great. Highly recommended!

3rd time in Finale with these guys and it really doesn't disappoint. Ben and the team consistently go above and beyond to help out, even changed the itinerary for me as I could only make a half week. Will definitely be back.

Our Maribor + Schladming Bike Park Madness tour is a full week of lift-served downhill in two of Europe's best-known bike parks. Start in Maribor, Slovenia, on the Pohorje World Cup DH venue, then head to Schladming, Austria, to ride the Planai bike park. Bring the big bike and the pads, and leave the transfers, lift passes, hotels and local guides to us.

maribor mtb madness

If your idea of a perfect week is lift, drop in, repeat, this one is for you. We start in Maribor, Slovenia, where the Pohorje Bike Park has hosted World Cup downhill racing, and finish in Schladming, Austria, riding Bikepark Schladming on the Planai. In Maribor you stay at Hotel Arena, right by the gondola and our local partners' bike shop, where your bike is stored and serviced. Two days with a local guide show you the lines, then a self-guided day lets you lap your favourites. Then we load the van and trailer and head to Schladming for two more days of laps, one of them with a local guide.

What's included

  • Airport transfers from and to Munich or Graz by van with bike trailer
  • Maribor to Schladming transfer by van with bike trailer
  • 4 nights at Hotel Arena Maribor (4-star superior, wellness area), twin share, bed and breakfast
  • 3 nights in Schladming, twin share, half board (hotel TBC)

THE RIDING PROGRAM & EATING OUT

What is the trip in a nutshell?

Based on 7 nights, arriving Friday and departing the following Friday (summer 2027, dates TBC). You spend 4 nights at Hotel Arena in Maribor on a bed and breakfast basis, then 3 nights in Schladming on a half board basis (hotel TBC). The trip includes 5 riding days: 2 guided days and 1 self-guided day in Maribor with a 3-day lift pass, then 2 days in Schladming with a 2-day Bikepark pass, one of them with a local guide. Transfers from and to Munich or Graz airport, and between Maribor and Schladming, are included.

We run 1 van with a bike trailer, seating up to 8 riders.

Example Riding Program

Friday - Fly into Munich or Graz. We meet you at the airport and drive you and your bike to Maribor. Check in to Hotel Arena, build bikes and find some dinner.

Saturday - A full day in Pohorje Bike Park with your local guide: the World Cup DH and surrounding trails, plus technical lines and jump lines, matched to the group.

Sunday - Second guided day in Maribor. More laps and more lines, building speed and confidence.

Monday - Self-guided day. Your lift pass, your choice: lap your favourites from the last two days. If Maribor's weather is bad, Kope or Peca/Petzen are possible backup options (TBC).

Tuesday - Easy morning, then the van and trailer to Schladming, Austria (about 2.5 to 3 hours).

Wednesday - A full day in Bikepark Schladming on the Planai with a local guide.

Thursday - Another full day riding Bikepark Schladming at your own pace.

Friday - Breakfast, pack the bikes and transfer back to Munich or Graz for your flight home.

Distances, vertical and lap counts are TBC. The program can change with the weather and the group.

Example Evening Meals

Maribor - Breakfast is included at Hotel Arena. Evenings are free to explore Maribor's restaurants and bars, and your guide can point you to the best spots. Dinners in Maribor are at your own cost.

Schladming - Half board, so breakfast and evening meals are included at the hotel (hotel TBC).

Lunches are not included on any day.

BOOKING YOUR FLIGHTS

Please check your flight times with us before you book them to avoid long wait times at the airport. Sometimes waiting is inevitable, but we try to keep it to a minimum with prior information from you.

Transfers are included from and to Munich or Graz airport on the Friday arrival and Friday departure days only. For any other day, or another airport, please enquire for a price.

Your price depends on your arrival airport: from EUR 1,332 pp arriving into Graz, or from EUR 1,475 pp arriving into Munich.

Transfer times are TBC. We do not pre-schedule transfers; we see how incoming and outgoing riders book and set times based on this. Graz is around 60 km from Hotel Arena; Munich is a longer drive (time TBC).

If your only option is a late flight, we advise arriving the day before, staying at an airport hotel and joining the first transfer available.

Wait Times

Wait times may occur on arrival and departure and cannot be confirmed until all bookings are in our system. We will advise on the best pick-up point nearer the time.

Bikes travel in our trailer, so please pack yours in a bike bag or box.

ROOM ARRANGEMENTS & SINGLE SUPPLEMENT OPTION

The advertised price is based on a twin share. Riders booking as individuals will share a twin room unless a single room is requested.

A single room option may be available on request. The single supplement is TBC, so please ask when you enquire.

ABILITY ASSESSOR

Follow our Ability Assessor to see if this holiday is for you.

  • Advised bike - Downhill bike, serviced and ready to ride
  • Fitness - TBC
  • Skills and Technical ability - TBC
  • Riding Style - Bike park / Downhill

This trip is for intermediate to advanced downhill riders who are confident on red and black bike park terrain and happy riding full days on a DH bike. A full face helmet and body armour are essential.

WEATHER

Bike park weather can change quickly in the mountains, and lift operations are decided by the bike parks, not by us. If Maribor's weather is poor, our local partners may suggest riding Kope or Peca/Petzen instead (subject to conditions and availability, TBC).

We cannot ignore severe weather warnings, and we will always put rider safety first. The program may change to make the most of the conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I book this tour for a private group?

Yes. If you have your own group of riders, contact us and we'll build a custom Maribor and Schladming tour around you. Use the enquiry form or call us and one of the team will get back to you.

How many days are guided?

You ride 2 guided days and 1 self-guided day in Maribor, then a guided day in Schladming. Groups are small, up to 8 riders, so you get plenty of time with your guide.

How much does it cost?

The tour costs from £1,150 per week. That covers transfers, hotels, lift passes, guides and bike servicing. Flights are not included.

What bike should I bring?

Bring your downhill or bike park bike and full pads, including a full-face helmet. This is a week of lift-served downhill riding on World Cup terrain. In Maribor your bike is stored and serviced at our partners' shop by the gondola, and Schladming has two bike workshops, one at the bottom of the Planai and one at the mid-station. If you need a hire bike, ask us before you book.

What else is there besides riding?

Maribor is Slovenia's second city and sits in one of the country's best wine regions, so evenings are relaxed and great value. It's also home to the Golden Fox, a women's ski World Cup race held on the same mountain since 1964. Schladming is a proper Austrian mountain town, famous for its night slalom that draws 50,000 fans every winter and for hosting the Alpine Ski World Championships in 1982 and 2013.

What is the riding like in Maribor?

Bike Park Pohorje has 15 trails across 30km, all served by a gondola from the edge of the city. The World Cup track runs 2.2km with about 465m of drop, full of roots, rocks and the gap jumps added when the World Cup returned. If you want something smoother, the Flow Line runs 5.5km and drops over 700m from the top of the gondola to the valley. The park added a new jump line, four enduro trails and new loops for 2026. Your guide spends the first days showing you the best lines, then you have a free day to lap your favourites.

What is the riding like in Schladming?

Bikepark Schladming has 42km of trails on the Planai, served by a 10-seat gondola with easy bike loading. The Worldcup Downhill is the big one. It runs 2.6km and drops almost 600m from the mid-station to the valley, with an average gradient of nearly 25%. The 99 Jumpline has 99 jumps over 3km, the Monster Jumpline has jumps up to 12m, and the Stadium Flowline runs 7km all the way down to town.

What riding level do I need?

This tour is for riders who are happy riding red bike park trails all day. Both parks have easier flow lines to warm up on, and black World Cup tracks if you want them. Not sure if it's right for you? Try our ability assessor or give us a call.

What's included?

Airport transfers to and from Munich or Graz, and the transfer from Maribor to Schladming, all by van with a bike trailer. You get 4 nights at Hotel Arena in Maribor on bed and breakfast, and 3 nights in Schladming on half board. Lift passes are included in both bike parks. Local guides ride with you on 3 of the days, and your bike is stored and serviced at our partners' shop by the Maribor gondola.

What's Maribor's World Cup history?

Maribor hosted its first UCI Downhill World Cup in 1999, and that same year it won the UCI Rainbow Award for the best downhill World Cup of the season. It went on to host eight World Cups up to 2010, with riders like Sam Hill winning there in 2007 and 2008. After a nine year break the World Cup came back in 2019, when Loïc Bruni and Tahnée Seagrave took the wins, and it returned again in 2020 and 2021.

What's Schladming's World Cup history?

Schladming was on the UCI Downhill World Cup circuit from 2004 to 2009, and it hosted the World Cup final in 2009. The winners list reads like a who's who of downhill. Gee Atherton won the first race, Sam Hill won four times, Sam Blenkinsop won in 2008, and on the women's side Anne-Caroline Chausson, Sabrina Jonnier, Rachel Atherton and Tracy Moseley all won there. The track was voted the #BESTTRACKEVER by riders.

Where do we stay?

In Maribor you stay at Hotel Arena, a 4-star superior hotel with a spa. It's right by the gondola, so you can ride straight from the door and soak your legs at the end of the day. In Schladming you stay on half board in a hotel close to the Planai. Rooms are twin share, and you can pay a single supplement for your own room.

Which airport should I fly into?

Fly into Graz or Munich. Graz is the closest, around 60km from Maribor. Your transfers are included and your bike travels in our trailer. Transfer times depend on the flights the group books, so check with us before you book yours.

Which track is harder, Maribor or Schladming?

They're hard in different ways. Maribor is fast and rooty, with rocky sections that get very slippery in the wet, which is why the 2020 World Cup was so dramatic. Schladming is steeper and longer, with a relentless root section near the top and almost 600m of drop that will test your arms and your fitness. Most riders say Schladming's World Cup line is the bigger challenge, but both parks have easier lines that run alongside.

Why go on a Maribor and Schladming downhill tour?

Because you get two of the most famous World Cup downhill tracks in Europe in one week. Maribor in Slovenia and Schladming in Austria have both hosted the best riders on the planet, and you get to ride the same lines they raced. You also get gondola-served laps all week, local guides, a spa hotel and two very different countries, without the crowds of the big Alpine parks.
