Welcome to our Guide for the MTB ZONE Bikepark Petzen, located in southern Carinthia, Austria, just over the border from Slovenia. Petzen has been a top destination for mountain bikers since its inception in 2014 and even more so since the 2018 and 2022 EWS races. The park's development was spearheaded by renowned trail designer Diddie Schneider, often referred to as the "King of Flow." His vision was to create a trail that offered a seamless and exhilarating experience, leading to the construction of the Flow Country Trail stretching over 11.5 kilometers with a descent of 1,050 meters, which quickly gained international acclaim.

Over the years, the bike park expanded its offerings to cater to a broader range of riders. Trails like the Thriller and the EWS Trail were introduced, providing more technical and challenging tracks. Additionally, the park developed facilities such as a bike school, rental services, and dining options to enhance the overall visitor experience. Petzen Bikepark trails, Tech or Flow?

Bikepark Petzen boasts a variety of trails, each designed to offer something very different but also very much needed. From the fairly mental (if wet) EWS and Thriller trails to the never-ending Flow and berms of Flow Trail. They all depart from the top of the gondola, which is long, high an fast. 

Flow Country Trail: Spanning 11.5 kilometers with a descent of 1,050 meters, this is one of Europe's longest flow trails. Designed by renowned trail builder Diddie Schneider, it features smooth berms, tables, and rollers, providing a roller-coaster-like experience suitable for all skill levels. 

Thriller Trail: A 6.5-kilometer natural enduro track that demands technical proficiency. Riders navigate through root-laden sections, rock gardens, and tight switchbacks, making it ideal for advanced bikers seeking a rugged experience.

EWS Trail: Constructed for the Enduro World Series, this 5-kilometer trail offers a challenging ride with steep descents, technical sections, and natural obstacles. It's recommended for expert riders looking to test their limits.

Shakedown Trail: Introduced in 2025, this trail is part of the Easyloop system accessible via the Quellenlift. It offers a mix of features suitable for riders looking to hone their skills. 

Jump Trail: Also new in 2025, this trail is designed for those aiming to practice and perfect their jumping techniques, featuring a series of jumps and landings.

Freeride Trail: Another addition in 2025, this trail offers a blend of natural and man-made features, catering to riders seeking a freeride experience.

Kids Nature Trail: A gentle trail designed for young riders and families, providing an introduction to mountain biking in a safe environment.

How to get there

Bikepark Petzen is situated at Unterort 52, 9150 Sankt Michael ob Bleiburg, Austria. The bike park operates daily from mid-May to late October, with lift services running from 09:00 to 16:30. The last ascent is at 16:15. A modern gondola lift transports riders and their bikes to the trailheads, ensuring easy access to all trails. This new lift is super fast, weather-proof proof and takes you in total comfort with epic views from bottom to top in minutes. 

At the valley station, a well-equipped bike shop offers rentals of enduro bikes, junior bikes, full-face helmets, and protective gear. Prices for bike rentals start at €65 per day for enduro bikes and €28 per day for junior bikes. Protective gear can be rented separately.

The park also provides various courses and guided tours, including beginner lessons and advanced riding techniques. Private lessons and group courses are available, catering to different skill levels. Facilities include a bike wash station, repair services, a pump track, training parcours, and on-site dining options, ensuring a comfortable and convenient experience for all visitors
