Geneva Airport is approximately 90 minutes away by road, making Morzine one of the easiest Alpine mountain bike destinations to reach.

Morzine village sits at approximately 1,000 metres above sea level, while many trails climb above 2,000 metres using the lift system.

A week is ideal to explore the Portes du Soleil properly, although long weekends are perfect if you're focusing on Morzine and Les Gets.

We recommend staying for at least 5 to 7 days. This gives you enough time to explore several areas of the Portes du Soleil without feeling rushed, while allowing flexibility around weather and lift operations.

Morzine itself has dozens of official downhill and enduro trails, but when combined with Les Gets, Avoriaz and the rest of the Portes du Soleil, you'll have access to well over 100 marked trails and hundreds of kilometres of riding.

If you're using the lifts, climbing is minimal. On guided backcountry or e-MTB rides you can expect anything from a few hundred metres to over 1,500 metres depending on the route.

Strong riders often complete between 8 and 20 uplift laps depending on the trails they choose. Guided enduro days generally cover fewer descents but much larger distances.

Absolutely. Tubeless tyres with robust enduro or downhill casings significantly reduce punctures on Morzine's rocky and rooty trails.

A modern enduro bike with 150-170mm travel is ideal for most riders. Downhill bikes are excellent for lift-served riding, while e-bikes are perfect for backcountry adventures.

Popular activities include hiking, road cycling, climbing, via ferrata, canyoning, rafting, golf, lake activities, tennis and exploring the surrounding Alpine villages.

Thanks to Morzine's huge trail network, there are usually excellent riding options regardless of the weather. Stay on Le Pleney and take advantage of the shelter of the Gondola on the uplift. Les Gets and the Nauchets Express chairlift (1,662m peak) have gravel/shale trails and drain very well, retaining their grip. Be aware that if there is thunder and lightning, they can close the lifts. This is very bad if you get stuck in Champery or Chatel. 

A main course in a good restaurant typically costs between €15 and €30, while pizzas, burgers and cafés provide cheaper options.

Expect to pay between €5 and €8 for a pint depending on the bar and location.

Expect warm sunny days with temperatures often between 20°C and 30°C in the valley, although mountain weather can change quickly and afternoon storms occasionally occur.

While Morzine has excellent bike parks, it also offers huge amounts of natural mountain riding, alpine singletrack and guided backcountry adventures. This variety means you can enjoy a completely different style of riding every day.
